Location: Masdar City Abudhabi Net Zero School Project
The GFA site is a net-zero energy facility, designed to generate as much energy as it consumes, significantly reducing environmental impact and promoting long-term energy efficiency. The school features solar panels covering 9,500 square meters, projected to generate approximately 3.1 million
kWh of energy annually. These panels not only power the school but also provide shade to rooftop areas, car parks, and walkways—enhancing thermal performance and reducing ambient temperatures.
The building incorporates enhanced thermal insulation, optimized orientation, and other innovative passive design strategies, enabling an estimated annual CO₂ reduction of 1,154 tons. In addition, the project includes water conservation systems, waste management strategies, and electric vehicle charging stations, making it a model of sustainability and a benchmark for future educational facilities.
